A LITTLE BIT MORE INFORMATION ON MY BRIDAL SERVICE
I like to speak to the bride-to-be prior to a booking or/and before the trial, especially if there are any concerns, for example, if she is on medication for a particular skin condition or any issues I should be made aware of. It also gives us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to each other on a more personal level to discuss the makeup and hair requirements.
This is usually by telephone, I am also very happy to meet in person if a client is reasonably local to where I am based or if I am working close by to where the client is located.

CONSULTATION / TRIAL
Makeup and hairstyling is very personal, especially for such an important day as the wedding day. I recommend booking a pre-wedding trial for brides-to-be to see their complete bridal look before the big day itself. The trial gives the opportunity to discuss your requirements in depth, any skin or/and product sensitivities. The trial is also the point where there are a lot of questions, on both sides.
I will offer advice and tips to prepare your skin to ensure it’s looking at it’s very best on the wedding day, where necessary.
All products and techniques used at the trial will be documented and also the notes taken when discussing your requirements, several photos will be taken for reference on the wedding day.
THE DAY OF THE TRIAL
You will be greeted with a warm welcome. We will sit down to discuss in detail your makeup & hair requirements, style of your dress, if you are wearing a veil or accessories in your hair and all the elements of the look and feel for the wedding. The month and time of the ceremony is an important factor for makeup where natural daylight comes in to play. I will ask about your beauty regime, products that you use and offer suggestions, where necessary, to ensure your skin is looking at it’s best for your wedding day and beyond.
COMMUNICATION IS KEY. This work’s both ways so I will encourage feedback throughout. You will not feel at any point that you cannot say if you are unsure about something or that you adore it!
MAKEUP: I take into consideration your skin type and any product sensitivity that you may have, your own personal style; for example, whether you’re not used to wearing makeup or you adore makeup, wear it everyday and love trying out different looks.
Once we have discussed everything your skin will be prepared using products suited for your skin type. I then set about creating your desired look personalising your makeup application as go.
HAIR: The style of the wedding dress has an important influence on your hairstyle, so we will look at pictures of your dress and discuss the hairstyling. The venue and feel of the wedding comes in to play too. A dress that has high neckline with embellishment then wearing the hair up works beautifully, or whether a relaxed boho inspired dress - flowing loose waves, braids, a loose relaxed hair up dressed with florals is the way to go. A sexy slinky dress complimented with ‘Hollywood Glamour’ waves and retro hairstyles looks stunning.
I will also take into consideration your own personal preferences, whether you don’t wear your hair up and would feel bare wearing it that way, or whether wearing your hair down you wouldn’t feel any different from your every day self. I will assess the condition of your hair take into consideration the length and thickness for your desired style.
The hair will then be prepared using appropriate products for your hair type and the desired style. I then set about styling the hair offering suggestions, where necessary, to ensure the choice of hairstyle works best for you, your face shape and compliments your dress. Where necessary I will recommend products for your hair type that I feel would help to get your hair in tip-top condition before the big day.
I usually prepare the hair first before doing the makeup, for example set on to rollers, then do the makeup and come back to styling the hair into the desired style.
If additional volume and/or length is required to enhance your chosen hairstyle, temporary clip in hair extensions are excellent to achieve this. This will be discussed at the trial.
The trial is your time, it is not rushed and we do not finish until you are absolutely delighted with your completed look.
When the trial is finished and you are completely happy and in love with your look you would notify me that you still wish to proceed.
Logistics and timings for the wedding day are briefly discussed and will be confirmed nearer to the big day. We will also discuss party members requirements for makeup/hair.
When you are completely happy and in love with your makeup/hair styling you would notify me that you still wish to proceed with the booking for the wedding date. We will then discuss the requirements for your party members makeup/hair if applicable. We will briefly discuss timings and logistics for the wedding day. Timings will be confirmed in good time prior to the wedding day after you have spoken to the venue and photographer and have received confirmed timings from them.
Trials for makeup & hair last approximately 3 hours. Makeup OR hair last approximately 1 ½ hours.
AFTER THE TRIAL
I like to gain feedback from my clients, for example, if a night out on the town was had after the trial how did the makeup and/or hair stand up to all the fun and frolics! If a reaction to any products used at the trial occur, then amendments will be made prior to the wedding day.
I will advise you of the lip colour used if it was out of my kit so this can be purchased prior to the Big Day. Some brides-to-be have a favourite lip colour of their own that they wish to wear on the wedding day. If a client has a particularly oily t-zone or there is a possibility the weather is going to be particularly hot, will recommend purchasing some cosmetic blotting sheets. Bridal party guests and requirements will be confirmed. Any major changes may incur a charge. After I have received confirmation from you on timings from your photographer and venue I will send you a timing schedule for the wedding day in plenty of time prior to the wedding day so you can notify all party members concerned so everyone is aware of their time slot. This will be emailed to you.
THE WEDDING DAY
The Big Day has finally arrived! I travel to you at your preparation address. I will arrive to set up and be ready to start work as detailed on the timings schedule that was sent to you. Now all you have to do is sit back and relax whilst your chosen look is perfectly re-created. If the natural butterflies kick in, which they do to some extent and is completely natural, I ensure that everything flows smoothly and calmly so your preparation time is relaxed and fun! I normally suggest that the bride and any bridal party guests have at least one hour before leaving for the ceremony. This gives plenty of time to dress, have pictures taken and enjoy a sip of Champagne with loved ones!
All of these details will have be discussed and confirmed prior to the wedding to ensure the least amount of stress on the Wedding Day and that the preparation time is enjoyable and relaxed.
THE BEST TIME TO ARRANGE A TRIAL
Once I have received the Booking Fee (which secures your wedding date) the trial can take place at anytime. For some brides-to-be, 3 to 4 months prior to the wedding date works well, especially if starting to feel a little anxious because they are not sure what makeup/hairstyling would work best. In this instance, I recommend having a second trial nearer to the wedding date.
Some brides-to-be are happier having their trial at a later date when they have their hair accessories or/and veil if wearing one, so they can see their completed chosen look and remains fresh in their mind.
A trial can be booked at anytime if a bride-to-be prefers to see their makeup and/or hair look before committing to paying the Booking Fee to secure the wedding date. I recommend the trial take’s place as soon as possible. It is best to notify me as quickly as possible if you wish to proceed, either after the trial is completed or in the time frame we both agreed on at the trial if a little more to is required before making a decision.
Without the Booking Fee payment I cannot guarantee my services for the date of the wedding,
TRIAL LOCATION & TIMES
Trials are held at my home studio located in RG24. Trial appointments are generally carried out weekdays between 10am and 5pm, as I am usually booked with weddings at weekends. Some clients arrange their trial to coincide with, their dress fitting enabling them to see the complete look, or if they are visiting other suppliers. If is extremely difficult to take time off work I sometimes have a wedding where there maybe sufficient time in the afternoon for a trial. This will be based on my availability around weddings and client bookings.
